Fishing in Big Canoe

Lake Petit

Fishing is allowed from boats or from designated banks. The spillway, the dam and the launching ramp are designated for bank fishing. Fishing is prohibited at the marina dock area. This area is restricted to boat owners and their guests in accessing their boats. Boaters should not interfere with bank fisherman and bank fisherman should not trespass on private lakeside property.

Lake Sconti & Lake Disharoon

Lake Sconti is the smaller lake behind the Clubhouse surrounded by the golf course.  Fishing is not allowed adjacent to the golf course fairways or between tees and greens. Boats may not be left overnight. Lake Disharoon is the home to the beach club. Fishing is not allowed in Lake Disharoon.


Blackwell Springs & Toad's Pond

Blackwell Springs and Toad’s Pond, which are two smaller bodies of water in the Waterford subdivision close to the North Gate off of Wilderness Parkway. Blackwell Springs and Toad’s Pond can only be accessed with a fishing permit if you are not a Waterford resident.

Fishing Permits

Fishing permits must be purchased at the  Marina Shack.

FISHING PERMITS

Property owners and their guests, registered rental guests, marketing guests and employees who have obtained a fishing permit are allowed to fish in Big Canoe. You must have the appropriate Big Canoe fishing permit with you while fishing. 

Daily and weekly fishing permits may be purchased at the Marina. Annual and family permits may be purchased at the Marina. (Note that having a Georgia fishing license does not cover fishing in Big Canoe.)

Lake Petit is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Trout cannot be thrown back, but the Marina will take anyone's unwanted catch. There is a limit of four trout per day per Big Canoe fishing license.
