Trash Facility
Big Canoe residents use a centralized trash collection system located near the North Gate for household trash and garbage, cardboard, and single stream recycling for paper, plastic, etc.
Trash Disposal
Big Canoe Trash Facility provides Property Owners with five household garbage bins, including one exclusively for broken-down corrugated cardboard boxes. The service is available 24/7. The facility also collects aluminum cans, yard waste and scrap metal.
Bulk Trash Day
Bulk Trash Day is held quarterly on the last Saturday of January, April, July and October in the Maintenance Department parking lot behind the Trash Facility. Property Owners can dispose of larger bulky items and take advantage of other services, such as paper shredding, for a small fee. Car/Truck/SUV load is $20. Trailer or UHaul load is $40.
Recycling
Big Canoe Trash Facility collects aluminum cans, yard waste and scrap metal. Pickens County East Side Recycling at 9720 Cove Road (just west of Big Canoe traffic circle on Steve Tate Highway) collects aluminum cans, corrugated cardboard, paper, #1 and #2 plastic bottles and containers, glass, and steel cans for recycling from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
